Canberra at Dusk

Dusk at Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra on Sunday. Just a shot out the side window of the car. We were heading home after going out for lunch, then going out again for drinks!

Canberra at Dusk

A shot out the front window of the car on Sunday evening. That’s the National Gallery on the left, and that ball thing is a “floating” sculpture that lives above the road.

Remember Ukraine?

One year since Russian terrorists shot down MH17. The war has not ended, and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is still going, for all the care the world has shown.

Fighting Kangaroos

More of the kangaroos at the cemetery the other day. These two weren’t too thrilled with each other!

Cemetery Kangaroos

The Canberra region has a kangaroo plague. Here was our visit to my grandparents’ graves on Saturday, just before 3pm. The number of kangaroos around only increases in the hours after that.

Queanbeyan River

Bright winter’s day on the Queanbeyan River, just over the border from Canberra. Even though I have never lived in Queanbeyan, I’ve spent a lot of time there (every week when I haven’t been overseas) because of family. The Ukrainian Catholic church my grandfather helped to build is just down the road from that café across the water.

On the ice in Canberra

The outdoor ice skating rink in Canberra on Sunday evening. We stopped there on the way to dinner. Obviously Sunday isn’t the best day to go out and about, but it was still so pretty. I love the snow play box they have for children on the side. We might not have snow actually falling here, but they try their best with the manufactured stuff!

I love winter. Australians are stupid about it, but if nothing else, most people look sexier with more clothes on!
