Friday Nature

Our newest resident in the garden is an enormous blue-tongued lizard. We now have ten birds living here full-time (two magpie families; one with three, one with four – and a family of three currawongs), but this is our original magpie family. They sit in the tree there late every afternoon. Today they were sitting there and staring at the lizard. I had to act as a bodyguard for the poor creature!

  1. Great pictures Sonya. If the Blue-tongue stays it will eat snails and they also love milk in a saucer. They can get very tame . Unless the magpies fight they will possibly be a large extended family. Have you tried some minced beef with the maggie and currawongs?
