Russians are shooting children now…

Here is the result of pro-Russian attack on a civilian family in Ukraine.

Others have been killed today on what is the big celebration of Victory Day in Eastern Europe.

In the meantime, there was a full scale Soviet military parade in Moscow today.

My mind keeps going back to that idiot army guy I spoke to who tried to tell me countries will intervene when shots are fired. Shots were fired months ago…

Find out more here.

“On the Lugansk region separatists shooted the family. Parents are dead, child in hospital.

Russia: go away!

So… You know how the Olympics in Sochi were so great, and – oh – isn’t Putin great and NOT AT ALL involved in the situation in Ukraine? Well, why is Russia closing in on Crimea (which is, you know, in UKRAINE)? Why did Russians take over Crimea’s parliament overnight? Why is there now a Russian flag flying on top of the building? Why are there Russian politicians in Crimea stirring up talks about separation?

Why is Putin ordering military exercises on the Ukrainian border?

I’ve actually had Russians telling me the corrupt, overturned government wasn’t pro-Russian. The Russian media is now reporting the United States is harbouring deposed president Viktor Yanukovych. It’s ridiculous that the internet exists but Russia still prefers to listen to Kremlin-endorsed propaganda.

In Ukraine: Live

The riot police have moved in in Kyiv. Here are some screen shots from right now. There’re dead bodies and many, many injured people. The police threw Molotov cocktails at the demonstrators and set all the tents on fire.

More violence in Ukraine

So, Kyiv, Ukraine is back to this. But the Russians and the pro-Russian Ukrainians are still hanging out in Sochi having parties.

Be warned: the video is not pretty. 😦

EDIT: The government has pulled down the video. I’m going to find another location for it. They’ve also started removing blogs running from in Ukraine.
EDIT#2: Found one.

Death toll rising…

This is the Ukrainian government’s version of we’re not armed and shooting people. Obviously they forget cameras exist.

Or maybe it’s just that they don’t care.

Five people are known to be dead so far, with others missing, hundreds injured and no doubt more to come. If it’s not the government doing it, then how’d the people get the bullets in their bodies?!

Edited to add that the missing activist has been found dead.

Ukraine Protest

Les Misérables in Kyiv?

The protests in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital city, are taking on a distinct Les Misérables look now!

The Russified government is starting to ship in paid pro-government “protestors”. Just disgusting. Coming from a Ukrainian family, I think anybody who wants to be Russian should just move there. It’s horrifying how few people in Ukraine even know the Ukrainian language these days, though it’s the only official language of the country! The national identity needs to be reclaimed, and – yes – Ukraine needs to be looking to Europe, not corrupt Russia.

The media could start by calling the capital city by its official name: Kyiv. ‘Kiev’ is the Russian name!

When babushkas have to start wearing pots on their heads for protection against the violent thugs making up the ‘riot police’ you know your country is messed up!

Vitaly Klitschko Kyiv Ukraine December 2013

What I’d really like to see is boxing champion-turned politician Vitaly Klitschko running Ukraine. Twice Vladimir Putin’s size, he’d give that awful man a worse case of little man syndrome!

Independence square in Kiev

Kyiv usually has gorgeous Christmas decorations. This year, the big tree in the main square is looking a little different. That’s poor Yulia Tymoshenko in the picture. I was in Ukraine during her trial, and it was a disgrace.
