Forgive the quality of the photograph. I was watering the garden at sunset, and this silly cockatoo watched me the whole time. I took the picture with a tablet (no camera or anything else nearby), one-handed, so it’s not very good. I think, though, you can tell it’s summer by the light – it’s so orange!
On this sunny winter afternoon in Canberra!
We have a sulphur-crested cockatoo plague here at the moment.
No – we have a bird plague in general! It’s a good thing we like them! With spring coming, we have dozens of every type of bird chasing each other around the garden to establish dominance – other than the cockatoos, who just hang around and have fun.
We have birds everywhere this afternoon, but this one is definitely my loudest visitor while I’m sitting here, working on the back deck. (Well, apart from the neighbours’ dog, that likes barking for three hours straight – literally without a break – UGH).
Another gorgeous day here in Canberra. I’ll be in Europe in a week, and the temperatures are still dipping below freezing where I’m heading for the first few weeks! I have no idea what to pack!
I tried to take a decent photograph of a cockatoo the other evening, but it seemed to forget how to be a bird… These are the pictures I got instead!
