Preening Session

We have two galahs that pretty much permanently live in the big eucalyptus tree in the front garden.

This one is very busy preening and enjoying the sunshine.

Saturday Afternoon in Canberra #2

Another shot of the gorgeous autumn afternoon we had in Canberra today. We have a lot of black swans on Lake Burley Griffin, but this one was more interested in ducking into the water for food than in posing for pictures!

Saturday Afternoon in Canberra #1

We have had such warm temperatures that autumn has been delayed this year. This was Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin this afternoon. I’m not exaggerating when I say I could not see A THING when I took this picture, the light was so blindingly bright! It’s the only shot from that direction I have that is even remotely straight!

The autumn colours have been slow to arrive in Canberra this year. It’s still too warm for this time of year. This was yesterday afternoon.

Stormy Sky #1

After weeks of hot, sunny weather, we had a crazy windstorm in these parts today. Here is the state border between New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. It was a weird afternoon.

What an Afternoon!

It seems autumn has forgotten to arrive in Canberra (although there are some seasonal colours around now). Our temperatures are still in the high twenties and early thirties every day, and look at the blue skies we have!

Hot Autumn Afternoon

Travelling inland and homewards today the sun got brighter, the sky got bluer, and the temperature rose and rose. It’s so hot and dry in Canberra, even though we’re well into autumn now.
